New and historic chairperson for Vasaloppet – The first woman!
“It is with great pride and humility that I take on the role of chairperson for Vasaloppet. Being the first woman in this position in Vasaloppet’s history feels both inspiring and full of responsibility. It is an honor to contribute to this unique event that means so much to so many,” says Anna Rosengren.
Hailing from Mora, Anna Rosengren has a long background in business and regional development. She currently serves as the CEO of Almi GävleDala. Rosengren has been a board member of the Vasaloppet Association Sälen-Mora since 2020 and now takes over after Jonas Estéen, who served as Chairperson for 11 years. She will also chair Vasaloppets Marknads AB (Vasaloppet’s Marketing AB) and Vasaloppets Anläggnings AB (Vasaloppet’s Facilities AB).
What are you most looking forward to as Chairperson of Vasaloppet?
“I look forward to continuing the development of the organization together with the board, the dedicated employees, and all the volunteers who make Vasaloppet possible.”
What are Vasaloppet’s main goals and visions for the future?
“Vasaloppet has a proud tradition that means a lot to many people. We need to keep finding new ways to enhance the race experience—before, during, and after the event. I believe we do this best by continuing to build on tradition while approaching future opportunities with fresh perspectives.”
How do you think your background in business and development can contribute to Vasaloppet’s future success?
“Vasaloppet is a very strong brand and a symbol of Sweden. It demonstrates the importance of location for experiences and implementation power. My background gives me an understanding of how we can further strengthen this force and Vasaloppet’s role as an engine for local, regional, and national growth.”
What challenges do you see in your new role?
“The things that interested people in Vasaloppet 100 years ago are still relevant today, but we must continually adapt and pool our resources to meet future needs. One of the major societal challenges is public health. Vasaloppet is an important actor already making a significant difference in getting Sweden moving, and we will continue addressing this challenge.”
