The Ski Classics Challengers event Lofsdalen Epic is a 55km long-distance race in classic technique (shortened to 52.3km this edition) taking place this Saturday, April 5, 2025, in Lofsdalen, Sweden.

The Lofsdalen Epic is a unique ski race in fantastic mountain surroundings. It is perhaps the only long-distance ski race where the participants take a lift to the start.

According to a press release from the Local Organizing Committee, the original distance for the main race was 55km, but it was shortened this edition to 52.3km due to snow conditions.

According to the event organizers, “As you may know, snowfall has been scarce this season, and Lofsdalen is no exception. Despite this, we will still be able to hold the full race distances, though the finish area will be adjusted. We have worked tirelessly to prepare the final 10 kilometers of the course, which runs at a lower altitude, but to ensure optimal conditions, the finish will now take place at the HovĂ€rken trail center. The forecast indicates continued mild weather, and since the ground frost has thawed, it is no longer possible to supplement the snow cover with machines. The start will still take place as planned at the alpine resort.”

Lofsdalen Epic 2025 is set to deliver an exciting competition, bringing together some of the biggest names in long-distance skiing.

“This year, we are especially excited to welcome both of this season’s Vasaloppet winners, Stina Nilsson and Alvar Myhlback. They will be joined by Sweden’s long-distance skiing elite and several other world-class athletes from both Sweden and Norway,” says the Local Organizing Committee.
