Prepare for a weekend of long-distance skiing as Ski Classics Season XV presents its third and fourth events: La Venosta Criterium and La Venosta ITT. Nestled in the picturesque Venosta Valley of northern Italy, within the western region of South Tyrol, these races promise to captivate both Pro Tour athletes and spectators alike.

Kicking off the weekend action is La Venosta Criterium, a long-distance event spanning 35 kilometers and scheduled for Saturday, December 16, 2023. The Criterium event will be held in several laps and classic technique. This spectacular race challenges the Pro Tour skiers to their limits on a demanding course at high altitude in the charming Vallelunga Valley.

Continuing the excitement on Sunday, December 17, is the fourth event of Season XV, La Venosta ITT.

The Individual Time Trial features a thrilling 10-kilometer race against the clock, with participants embarking on an individual start format, striving to achieve the fastest time while navigating the challenging course.

“Another intense double-event weekend at high altitude before Christmas ends the first part of Ski Classics Season XV. It will be a weekend where athletes must perform in a Criterium and ITT format to keep on to their chances of winning the Champion bib,” says Ski Classics Sport Director Anton Karlsson.

Nestled close to the borders of Switzerland and Austria, the Venosta Valley boasts a reputation for excellent cross-country skiing tracks and favorable snow conditions, even as early as December. This serves as a perfect opportunity for Pro Team athletes to kickstart their season with early snow races.

Additionally, visitors can explore the charming neighboring towns and partake in local seasonal markets, immersing themselves in the festive ambiance before the holiday break. La Venosta becomes a picturesque setting for embracing the Christmas spirit.

Having joined Ski Classics during Season X, La Venosta has consistently delivered breathtaking sceneries and a glimpse into the splendors of South Tyrolian nature. Season XV promises no less, with the Criterium and ITT events poised to showcase the region’s stunning landscapes and provide memorable experiences for all involved.
