Home hope ahead of Orsa Grönklitt 50k ITT: “It suits me well”
Today, the men will also race the Orsa Grönklitt ITT 50k in Sweden. Axel Jutterström hopes to challenge for a podium spot.
Axel Jutterström, Team Eksjöhus, has yet to claim a podium finish in Ski Classics this season. His best result so far is fifth place at Engadin La Diagonela in January. Jutterström is from Mora and will therefore compete in his second consecutive race “on home ground.”
“My form has generally been quite good, and I’ve had some decent results. But I feel that I haven’t been able to get 100 percent out of my form yet, so I hope to do that in the coming weeks,” he says ahead of the races.

Historic race
The Orsa Grönklitt 50k ITT is historic as the first-ever 50km race with an individual start. It is a race format that Jutterström believes could suit him well.
“I’m looking forward to this race, and I think it’s a race that suits me well,” says Axel Jutterström, adding:
“You have to set your own pace and maintain it well. I think one of my strengths is being able to hold a high pace for a long time. I like that.”
How will you approach the race on Sunday?
“It can be quite difficult to maintain the pace in a race like this, and there’s no real rest on this course. I guess I’ll try to find a good pace on the flat sections. Hopefully, I can maintain an even pace throughout the race.”
Several favorites
After completing one of the two laps, the plan is to increase the pace.
“I’ll try not to open too hard since there are almost no downhill sections. I’ll try to find a pace that isn’t too demanding at the beginning, and after the first climb, I’ll feel what kind of day I’m having. Hopefully, I can go a bit faster on the second lap if it’s a good day.”
Who do you see as the biggest favorites?
“We saw that all the Lager (157 Ski Team) guys were really strong in Vasaloppet, so I guess they’ll be very strong here as well. Then I think some of the guys from Engcon and Aker Dæhlie will be really strong as well. And of course, some of the guys from my own team, too.”
