Heli Heiskanen Pleased With Her Performance At Jizerská50

Heli Heiskanen, Team Slavia Pojišťovna Sport Team Z.S., finished ninth at Jizerská50 yesterday.

According to Heiskanen, a top 10 place is a good result, and she needs to be satisfied with the achievement. However, for her, the competition did not go perfectly.

“At first, I didn’t dare go to the top group, and it felt like 60 percent of the time I skied in the wrong group. The pace was so relaxed that I had to look back because I was afraid the skiers behind would pass by.”

Sixteen kilometers before the finish, however, Heiskanen managed to break away from the group and achieved a result that she was satisfied with.

“If I dared to ski harder and sustain until the end, the result might be better. It’s a good idea to have a little hunger for the next races and not be so happy. However, I want to improve in the future,” Heiskanen comments to Maastohiihto.com.

In terms of the overall competition, Heiskanen’s goal for this season is to be in the top ten. The goal will be achieved if she can maintain her current position.

Next weekend, Heiskanen will compete in the Tartu Maraton, after which preparations for Vasaloppet, one of the most significant long-distance skiing events, will begin.
