The Ski Classics Season XV is over. Now, preparation begins for the upcoming season. Hear about the past winter season for the eD system Silvini Team.

The eD system Silvini Team completed its 13th season in Ski Classics during the 2023/2024 winter and its 15th season in history. Ranked the best Czech Pro Team, the squad finished 8th at the Pro Team Competition Season XV.

Historically, eD system Silvini Team is one of the most successful Czech teams on the circuit, as Pro Team Director Marek Pazdesrský explains:

“On all fronts, we are the longest-running team and one of the most successful teams in the long term, both in the Ski Classics and on home soil at the Ski-tour, Track for Life, and EDS Skiroll Classics series. It was one of the best seasons in our history, and if it hadn’t been for the tragic loss that befell us at the beginning of the season, it would have been heralded as our most successful. The team was hit hard by that event but was able to come together as a unit and show that the direction we are going is the right one.”

Last Summer, the Czech Pro Team proudly announced the signing of German powerhouse Thomas Bing, which proved to be the right decision:

“Bringing in German skier Thomas Bing proved to be key, as he fit in especially humanly and became the natural driving force of the group. The second key role was adapting the service team to the new fluor-free waxing, including the use of new material. Thomas Bing achieved the best results, finishing 13th overall, 3rd in the Climb, 6th at Bad Gastein (Criterium), and 7th at Marcialonga.”

Thomas Bing about the season

“A season with ups and downs, at a high level and a great start. Up until Marcialonga, I was able to achieve top 10 results. I had the Climb bib, and I’m very proud of it. I had problems with my shape for Vasaloppet and Birkebeinerrennet; the lack of snow training and a few minor illnesses were the reason,” says Bing and concluded by saying about the end of the season:

“At the end of the season, it went better and better. I could not defend the Climb bib lead, but I was able to finish in third place. Also, at the last competition, I felt strong, so I could close the season satisfied.”

Pro Team Director Pazdesrský also commented about other athletes on the team:

“Vaclav Sedlacek also improved a lot and managed to be the best Czech in several races, 37th at Janteloppet and 43rd at Vasaloppet. Hats off also to Ales Bohaty’s rise on Vasaloppet – 67th place.”

In the women’s field, the team’s star was Karolína Grohová, 19th overall as the best Czech, 12th at the Drei Zinnen Ski-Marathon, and 13th at Janteloppet as her best results.

According to the Pro Team Director, “the team competition was also supported by the performances up to 30th place of Laura Stichling and Anna-Marie Hejna, who was the only one able to complete Vasaloppet,” and added:

“In other races, Petr Knop, who dominated the whole Ski-tour, performed very well. For the women, we were happy to see Petra Hynčicová winning the Dolomitenlauf. We also recorded many beautiful performances and results from other team members. Every green jumpsuit on the course and at the finish made us very happy, and we received many medals from Vasaloppet. At the same time, we are happy to have had several training camps during the year. We also organized two big roller ski races, with Lipnolopet getting live coverage as a Ski Classics Challengers event.”
