The Ski Classics Challengers event Lake Saimaa Roller Ski Marathon will be held in less than a month. The long-distance roller ski race in classic technique will occur on September 3 in Imatra, Finland.

On Sunday, September 3, the 60-kilometer Lake Saimaa Roller Ski Marathon will take place in Imatra, Finland, for another year as a Ski Classics Challengers event.

Lake Saimaa Roller Ski Marathon is a classic roller ski competition that is held in the Rauha-Ukonniemi area between two spa hotels, Imatra Kylpylä, and Holiday Club Saimaa, and in the area of the cities of Imatra and Lappeenranta, in South Karelia. The track also goes through Imatra’s Ukonniemi roller ski track, and the center of the event is at the Ukonniemi Arena.

The route follows the coast of Saimaa Lake, and in some places, the course opens to the beautiful landscape of Saimaa, Finland. The racecourse is 10km long, and there will be six laps starting at Ottelukaty and finishing at the Ukonniemi Stadium. When racing, participants can enjoy the beautiful scenery of the largest lake in Finland.

Imatra offers one of Finland’s best roller ski conditions, with a 3.3km roller ski track and a modern biathlon shooting range. Ski Club Imatran Urheilijat has long experience organizing cross-country skiing and biathlon competitions.

The distance of the primary race, part of the Ski Classics Challengers, is 60 kilometers, while a shorter event of 30 kilometers is also offered.
