This weekend, the Ski Classics Pro Tour Season XVII continues with the Orsa Grönklitt 50k ITT for women on Saturday, March 7, and for men on Sunday, March 8, 2026. Here is everything you need to know ahead of the historic individual-start events.

The Ski Classics Pro Tour moves deeper into the Scandinavian leg of Season XVII with a landmark weekend in Orsa Grönklitt. The venue hosts the first-ever 50-kilometer individual time trials in Ski Classics history, with separate racing days for women and men.

Located just north of the Vasaloppet finish line in Mora, Orsa Grönklitt is one of Sweden’s most respected cross-country skiing destinations. Known for its reliable winter conditions, demanding trail network, and peaceful wilderness surroundings, the venue offers the perfect setting for a new chapter in Ski Classics.

A historic step for Ski Classics

The introduction of the 50-kilometer individual-start races marks a significant evolution in the Pro Tour. While long-distance events have traditionally relied heavily on group dynamics and team tactics, the Orsa Grönklitt ITTs place every athlete alone on the course, requiring athletes to manage effort, pacing, and technique with no drafting and no margin for hesitation.

Both race days follow the same 50km course, reaching a highest point of 553 meters and featuring only 485 meters of total ascent. Compared to many other Pro Tour events, the profile is relatively flat, which could favor athletes capable of maintaining a consistently high speed over long sections.

The course winds through the deep forests and rolling terrain that define the Grönklitt area, rewarding athletes who can combine sustained power with smart pacing throughout the race.

Individual Time Trial (ITT) rule

According to the Ski Classics Pro Tour Rules and Regulations for Season XVII, during ITT events, competitors must stay in the classic track, except for moments of overpassing or unavoidable situations such as loss of balance, etc. Violation of this rule should lead to a 5-minute time penalty sanction. Depending on the weather situation, the Jury has the right not to apply the rule.
