See the complete list of the top 10 most decorated female biathletes in Olympic history below, along with everything you need to know about biathlon at the 2026 Winter Olympics further down in the article.

German athletes dominate the list of the most successful biathletes, with five of the top 10, including the number one. Norway is clearly the next strongest nation, with three athletes, including the second- and third-place finishers.

Uschi Disl is the most decorated female biathlete in Olympic history. The German, nicknamed “Turbo-Disl,” won a total of 9 medals across 5 Olympic Games: Albertville 1992, Lillehammer 1994, Nagano 1998, Salt Lake City 2002, and Turin 2006. She retired after the 2006 Olympic season.

Norway’s Tiril Eckhoff follows closely with eight medals, while both Kati Wilhelm and Marte Olsbu Røiseland have seven each. Eckhoff and Røiseland both retired in March 2023 and are now expert commentators for TV 2 and NRK, respectively.

Darya Domracheva, ranked fifth on the list, is particularly known for her four Olympic gold medals. She is also the wife of Ole Einar Bjørndalen.

One still active

Of the ten athletes on the list, only Anastasiya Kuzmina is still active. The 41-year-old from Slovakia made her comeback in the 2023/2024 season after a four-year break. At the Norwegian season opener in Geilo in November, she finished fifth in a very star-studded field.
