Bruse Sauerland Ski Team has announced the signing of Hugo Hilmersson for the Ski Classics World Championship Season XVIII (2026/2027).

The Swedish athlete moves to the German Pro Team after a standout campaign on the Ski Classics Challengers circuit, where he collected a couple of long-distance wins on home snow last season.

Announcing the move on Instagram, Bruse Sauerland Ski Team wrote:

Last season, Hilmersson won two Ski Classics Challengers events in Sweden: the Craft Ski Marathon, a 42km classic technique race in Grönklitt, and the Lofsdalen Epic, a 55km classic technique race in Lofsdalen. According to the team’s announcement, he also finished in the top 50 at Birkebeinerrennet and took the overall title in the Svenska Långloppscupen, the Swedish long-distance cup.

Hilmersson becomes the latest addition to a Bruse Sauerland Ski Team roster already reshaped for Season XVIII, which earlier this year saw Jennifer Antell and Agnes Öhrn join on the women’s side, and John Hermansson and Lars Völter strengthen the men’s group. Together with Alexandra Nilsson, Alexandra Hoffmann, Lassi Juhanoja, Anton Schaper, Henric Thunander, and Rudolf Dohnal, the team fields a broad and competitive lineup heading into the new season.
