Women’s A-Team

The women’s squad features four athletes representing clubs across Finland:

  • Inka Hämäläinen (Kontiolahti Sports Club)
  • Venla Lehtonen (Imatra Sports Club)
  • Sonja Leinamo (Ahvenisto Biathlon Club)
  • Suvi Minkkinen (Joutsa Pommi)

The lineup combines established World Cup competitors with athletes continuing to build their international profiles.

Men’s A-Team

The men’s side includes five athletes:

  • Tuomas Harjula (Tuusula Voima-Veikot)
  • Arttu Heikkinen (Puijo Ski Club)
  • Olli Hiidensalo (Lahti Ski Club)
  • Otto Invenius (Soisalo Biathlon Club)
  • Tero Seppälä (Haapajärvi Kiilat)

The selection reflects continuity in the men’s program, with several athletes already familiar with top-level international competition.

Coaching staff taking shape

The federation has appointed Erik Torneus-Kulstad as head coach, bringing international expertise from Norway. He will work alongside responsible coach Aku Moilanen. A third A-team coach will be confirmed at a later stage.

Leadership behind the scenes

Beyond the athletes and coaching staff, key figures within the federation are helping guide the program’s direction.

  • Teemu Vesala serves as sport director, overseeing performance strategy and athlete development pathways.
  • Tapio Pukki, the federation’s executive director, is responsible for overall operations and long-term planning.

Together with Torneus-Kulstad, who brings a Norwegian perspective to training and competition preparation, the leadership team aims to strengthen Finland’s position in international biathlon.

Looking ahead

The Finnish Biathlon Federation noted that additional training groups will be announced separately, indicating a broader structure supporting athlete development beyond the A-team.

With the 2026 training season now underway, the focus shifts to building form, refining shooting consistency, and preparing for the upcoming World Cup campaign and major championships.
