The Ski Classics Challengers event, Fossavatnsgangan, took place this Saturday with a 50km long-distance skiing race in classic technique in Ísafjördur, Iceland. Check out the results.

The Ski Classics Challengers event, Fossavatnsgangan, took place this Saturday with a 50km long-distance skiing race in classic technique in Ísafjördur, Iceland. Check out the results.

After a day full of action, the Ski Classics Challengers event in Iceland, Fossavatnsgangan, saw a solid fight for the podium places. Andreas Nygaard, Team Ragde Charge, and Sophia Velicer, SAS, won their respective races with solid performances.

Fossavatnsgangan – Men’s Race 

In the men’s competition, the winner was Andreas Nygaard, Team Ragde Charge, with a total time of 2:22:34.0.

Stanislav Řezáč, Team Slavia Pojišťovna Robinson Trentino, finished in second place, 1:36.0 back, followed by Riccardo Mich, Team Futura GTE Trentino, 2:45.0 behind the winner, and completing the podium in third place.

Fossavatnsgangan – Top 3 Men

  1. Andreas Nygaard, Team Ragde Charge, 2:22:34.0
  2. Stanislav Řezáč, Team Slavia Pojišťovna Robinson Trentino, +1:36.0
  3. Riccardo Mich, Team Futura GTE Trentino, +2:45.0

Fossavatnsgangan – Women’s Race

In the women’s event, the winner Sophia Velicer, SAS, completed the race at a time of 2:51:32.0.

Anikka Landis, Enjoy Winter – NTS Factory Team, finished in second place, 3:57.0 behind, followed by Lea Stabæk Wenaas, Røa IL, completing the podium in third position and 4:03.0 back.

  1. Sophia Velicer, SAS, 2:51:32.0
  2. Anikka Landis, Enjoy Winter – NTS Factory Team, +3:57.0
  3. Lea Stabæk Wenaas, Røa IL, +4:03.0

As the Fossavatnsgangan 50km race is a Ski Classics Challengers event, Pro Team registered athletes could collect points for the Ski Classics Champion and Youth competitions in their respective genders.
