The 2026 Winter Olympics in Milano Cortina will not begin until next February, but nine biathletes have already been named to the French Olympic Team.

Milano Cortina, in Italy, will host the next Winter Olympics. The Opening Ceremony will be held on February 6, 2026, and there will be 10 biathlon events over 14 days, culminating in the women’s 12.5km Mass Start on February 21, 2026.

According to a press release from the French Olympic and Sports National Committee (CNOSF), nine athletes have been selected for the Milano-Cortina 2026 Olympic Games.

Five women and four men were named to the French biathlon team, with three remaining Olympic spots (one woman and two men) to be announced on January 20 or 23, 2026, according to NordicMag.

According to the press release, “A historic medal provider for France every four years, biathlon once again heads into the Olympic Games with athletes well accustomed to the highest level of international competition. The rise of the French team during this Olympic cycle has been clear: after four medals at the 2023 World Championships, French biathletes followed up with 13 World Cup podiums across 2024 and 2025, including 12 in Olympic-format events, placing France as the World’s leading nation.

On the women’s side, the depth of the squad is undeniable. Lou Jeanmonnot (2nd), Julia Simon (3rd), Océane Michelon (5th), and Justine Braisaz-Bouchet (8th) delivered a historic collective performance in last season’s overall World Cup standings. They are now joined by Camille Bened, the breakout athlete of the early 2025/2026 season.

The men’s team is equally strong. Alongside double Olympic champion and five-time Beijing 2022 medalist Quentin Fillon Maillet, experienced athletes Fabien Claude and Emilien Jacquelin will also be targeting their first individual Olympic medals. The selection is completed by Eric Perrot, third overall in the World Cup last season, and set to make his Olympic debut. Altogether, France will field an impressive team at Anterselva in February 2026.”
