Northug stands behind athlete balancing work and elite skiing
The 32-year-old from Drammen works full-time for the city of Oslo. She actually quit cross-country skiing at the age of 14, but Petter Northug Jr. has placed his trust in her as part of his Team Burger King Northug — and her progress has been nothing short of remarkable.
Fanny Marie Møller Endresen joined the Ski Classics circuit through the amateur team Team Straye Flammekaster at the age of 29, despite not having been an active skier for several years.
“I just love being outdoors and training, especially on skis. I also have a competitive instinct that needs an outlet, and skiing has been that for me in recent years,” she said to Langrenn.com.
Despite her full-time job, Endresen’s improvement has been striking.
At Birkebeinerrennet, her results have developed as follows over recent years: 123–53–24–15, improving her time by more than half an hour between the first and second years.
She has since followed up with surprisingly strong results, such as 12th place in the Bad Gastein Criterium and 15th in her first Marcialonga.

Spotted by Northug
After her early days with Team Straye Flammekaster, none other than Petter Northug Jr. noticed the talent from Drammen.
“He simply asked if I was interested in joining his Team Janteloppet. I told him I only do this as a hobby, but if it’s possible to combine it, I’d love to. I said yes right away,” said Endresen.
She then joined the Pro Team, which has evolved into Team Burger King Northug.
“It’s a lot of fun. He’s serious about it now, and he’s gathered a great mix of people — from influencers to me. A good combo,” the 32-year-old told Drammens Tidende.
Endresen doesn’t aim to beat the very best women in Ski Classics but enjoys being part of the adventure.
“The top athletes train twice as much as I can. I just don’t have that kind of time — recovery matters too,” she said.

Targets the big classics
Her goals are the major long-distance classics — Vasaloppet, Birkebeinerrennet, and Marcialonga.
She aims to keep improving and to have fun along the way — something not everyone manages to balance with a full-time job.
“I hope she can achieve a new personal best this season,” said Petter Northug Jr.
“I’ve been on a team with Fanny before in Ski Classics, and when we expanded Team Burger King Northug ahead of this season, it was natural to ask if she wanted to be part of it,” he added.
A steady rise
Endresen technically stopped competing at 14 but never gave up skiing. In 2017, her father, Jan Otterstad Endresen, encouraged her to participate in Hauer’n (the Thorleif Haug Memorial Race), which she has since won several times.
Her talent has been evident for years; she has also won events like the Trysil Skimaraton while racing for Team Straye Flammekaster.
Today, she performs at a high level — all while working full-time as a senior consultant for the city of Oslo.
Team Burger King Northug aims for a podium in Ski Classics this winter and several top results. Maybe Fanny can even reach the top 10?

A balanced life
With a 100% job as a consultant in Oslo, competing in Ski Classics for Team Burger King Northug, and still finding time for festivals and activities, the 32-year-old from Drammen has no trouble filling her days.
She’s a living example that you can perform well in Ski Classics without being a full-time athlete.
The story of Fanny Marie Møller Endresen is not just about athletic achievement but about finding a meaningful balance between work, sport, and joy of life. Her approach shows that elite sport can also be about happiness, community, and a genuine love for skiing.
