The Ski Classics Challengers event Tanumsloppet is a 40km long-distance roller ski race in classic technique taking place this Saturday, August 16, 2025, in Tanumshede, Sweden.

Tanumsloppet attracts professional athletes, recreational skiers, and youth participants to a scenic course in the typical “Bohuslänsk” landscape, featuring open views and small mountains along the way.

This year’s edition brings extra excitement with several well-known names on the start lists. Among the men, Alfred Buskqvist, who competes actively during the summer, is one of the most accomplished skiers on the start line. He will face intense competition from Elias Andersson of Ski Team Göhlins, fresh from an impressive performance at the Blink Festival last week. Ski Classics Pro Team athletes Johannes Eklöf and Gabriel Strid are also entered, along with Thomas Gifstad, winner of the season’s first roller ski races on Öland.

In the women’s field, Karolina Hedenström from Lager 157 Ski Team leads the pack, joined by Hilda Löf, who recently placed sixth at Lysebotn Opp. The biggest news, however, is the return of roller ski star Linn Sömskar, who retired last autumn but will make her comeback at Tanumsloppet.

The main event distance is 40km, part of the Ski Classics Challengers series, but shorter roller ski and running races are also on the program. Tanumsloppet is a seeding race for Vasaloppet, and Pro Team-registered athletes can collect points for the Ski Classics Champion and Youth competitions in their respective genders.
