The Biathlon Masters International Championships return in 2026 with a week of racing scheduled from March 16 to 22 at the renowned Kontiolahti Biathlon Stadium in North Karelia, Finland.

Organized by the Kontiolahti Sport Club, the event brings together biathletes aged 35 and older from around the world, continuing a tradition that began in 1997. With a mix of age-group competitions and a strong sense of community, the Biathlon Masters Championships provide a unique opportunity for experienced athletes to compete at an international level.

The 2026 edition promises a vibrant atmosphere at one of Finland’s premier biathlon venues, which has previously hosted numerous World Cup stages and World Championships. The event combines competitive spirit with camaraderie and international exchange among veteran biathletes.

An official invitation with full competition details and age categories is expected to be released during the summer.

The story continues below.

Kontiolahti

Located 15 kilometers north of Joensuu in Finland’s Karelia region, Kontiolahti is a celebrated biathlon destination perched above Lake Höytiäinen.

Surrounded by forests, lakes, and tranquil trails, it provides a serene backdrop for winter sports. The biathlon stadium blends modern infrastructure with tradition, anchored by a distinctive red wooden timing building that reflects the venue’s roots as a small local ski club deep in the Finnish woods.
