Aiming to take home Britain’s first-ever championship medal in cross-country skiing: This is Britain’s team to the 2022 Olympics.

The British Ski Association has named three cross-country skiers to the 2022 Winter Games in Beijing. Great Britain’s team to the 2022 Olympics consists of three athletes: two Olympic veterans and one rookie.

Both 29-year-old Andrew Young and 31-year-old Andrew Musgrave have raced at all Winter Games since Vancouver 2010, and are headed to their fourth Olympics.

At the 2018 Olympics in Pyeong Chang, South Korea, the duo of Andrews was 12th in the team sprint, which is also Young’s best Olympic result. Musgrave’s seventh place in the skiathlon at the 2018 Winter Games is his top Olympic result.

For 25-year-old James Clugnet the 2022 Olympics in Beijing will be his first.

Aiming for medals
The three British men and their two Norwegian coaches Jostein Vinjerui and Hans Krister Stadheim have set their goals high: taking home Britain’s first-ever medal in cross-country skiing from a major championship.

“When we accepted the positions as head coaches for the British national cross-country ski team, we announced that we would help Britain earn their first-ever World Championship or Olympic medal in cross-country skiing. This year, the championship option is the Olympics, so then we’re aiming for an Olympic medal,” coach Vinjerui says to ProXCskiing.com.

PS: Andrew Musgrave also competes in long-distance races with the Visma Ski Classics Pro Team “Næringsbanken.”
