By clinching overall victories in the Tour de Ski 2024/2025, Therese Johaug and Johannes Høsflot Klæbo have made history: both now hold four overall titles, tying the records of Dario Cologna and Justyna Kowalczyk.

Nearly $132,000 USD in a Week

Both Klæbo and Johaug added significantly to their bank accounts, earning nearly $132,000 each in prize money. They each received over $88,000 for their overall wins.

Additionally, Klæbo earned $6,626 for winning the sprint standings, while Johaug pocketed the same amount for clinching the climbing competition. Both athletes also benefited from stage wins, podium finishes, and bonuses for wearing the leader’s jersey throughout the Tour.

Klæbo excelled with five stage wins and led the standings for most of the seven stages, while Johaug secured two stage wins and a second place, finishing the Tour in the leader’s jersey. Each stage victory brought in $3,311, and a second-place finish earned $2,209.

Other Norwegians Cash In

Several other Norwegian athletes also saw their accounts grow after the seven stages in northern Italy:

• Håvard Moseby: The “super substitute,” brought in as a replacement just two days before the Tour began, exceeded expectations with a fifth-place finish, earning over $22,000.
• Erik Valnes: Finished seventh overall, earning $13,200, plus $2,209 for a fifth-place finish in the sprint standings.
• Jan Thomas Jenssen: Climbed from 15th to 10th place, earning $7,732 for his overall finish and $1,104 for third in the skiathlon.
• Tour Debutants: Andreas Fjorden Ree and Iver Tildheim Andersen earned $6,626 (11th place) and $4,416 (14th place), respectively.

Simen Hegstad Krüger suffered a major setback after an untimely fall during Saturday’s skiathlon, which cost him a shot at second place overall — and nearly $61,600. However, he secured a stage win on the final climb up the monster hill, earning $3,311, as well as $2,209 for second place in the 20 km race in Toblach.

Norwegian Women Shine

In addition to Johaug’s overall victory, other Norwegian women had strong showings:

• Astrid Øyre Slind: Secured second place overall, earning $60,736. Including bonuses for podium finishes (two wins, one second place, and two thirds), she totaled over $72,064.
• Heidi Weng: Finished fifth overall, earning $22,088, plus additional earnings for her fourth place in the sprint standings ($3,311) and two third-place stage finishes ($2,209 each).
• Kristin Austgulen Fosnæs: Earned $7,732 for her 10th-place finish.
• Nora Sanness: The Tour debutant secured 11th place and $6,626.
• Silje Theodorsen: Finished 12th, earning $5,519.

Norway’s athletes not only dominated the podium but also took home a substantial share of the prize money.

Next Up – Les Rousses World Cup

The next stop for the World Cup season 2024/2025 is Les Rousses, scheduled to take place from January 17 to 19, 2025. The 6^th stage of the World Cup will feature three days of competitions in France.

The event starts on Friday, January 17, with a 10km interval start in freestyle technique, followed by a sprint race in classic technique on Saturday, January 18, and a 20km mass start race in classic technique on Sunday, January 19.
