Today, the second day of the Finnish premiere weekend, took place in Muonio with a 10km individual start race in classic technique for men and women. Iivo Niskanen (FIN) won the men’s race with a superior performance.

Today, the second day of the Finnish premiere weekend, took place in Muonio with a 10km individual start race in classic technique for men and women. Iivo Niskanen (FIN) won the men’s race with a superior performance.

In the men’s 10km individual start race in classic technique, Iivo Niskanen (FIN) won the race with a total time of 24:54.4.

Mattis Stenshagen (NOR) snagged second place, 24.2 seconds back, and Martin Løwstrøm Nyenget (NOR) completed the podium in third place, 25.4 seconds behind the winner.

Muonio FIS Races

The Finnish FIS season premiere in Muonio is known for drawing a large and solid international field. For many elite cross-country skiers, these races are an essential performance indicator for the World Cup in Ruka and a good thermometer for the winter.

The program in Muonio includes a classic sprint race (today), a 10km classic race with individual start on Saturday, November 11, and a 10km freestyle race with individual start on Sunday, November 12. 

Around 300 athletes from 19 different countries are taking part on the FIS races.
