The Swedish cross-country skiing star Frida Karlsson will miss training camp and Toppidrettsveka 2024 this week.

According to a press release, Frida Karlsson has decided to skip the Swedish National Team’s training camp in Trondheim, Norway, and this week’s Toppidrettsveka 2024.

According to Langd.se, the reason is an overuse of one foot that led her, together with her coach and team doctors, to continue alternative training at home and prepare for the upcoming high-altitude training camp.

“It’s a case of an overload in the soft tissues that needs some relief. Since we are in an important training period and have a high-altitude camp in LavazĂš in three weeks, we don’t see any downside in being extra cautious at this point – even though it would be possible to compete,” says National Team coach Stefan Thomson in a press release.

Toppidrettsveka 2024

Toppidrettsveka 2024 is starting tomorrow. Check the complete calendar of competitions for Norway’s renowned roller ski event.

Scheduled to take place from August 14 to 17, 2024, this year’s edition of the Toppidrettsveka offers four days of events for traditional cross-country skiing athletes, long-distance skiers, and activities for children and young people.

Since its inception in 2005, Toppidrettsveka has flourished into one of the world’s largest and most important summer ski competitions. Each year, it attracts a star-studded international field that rivals the stature of a World Cup event. Toppidrettsveka represents a meaningful opportunity for many top-tier athletes to reunite and compete following the World Cup final in March.
