Swedish men’s training camp season starts with 316km on roller skis and running for the Swedish A-National Team and Team Bauhaus.

The men’s cross-country skiers from the Swedish A-National Team and Team Bauhaus will gather from May 27 to 30 for their first training camp of the season. They will start a long journey from Ängelholm to Ulricehamn, Sweden, on Monday. The 316km route will be completed in four days, all on roller skis and by running.

“We tried this concept last year, and it turned out very well. Appreciated both by the skiers, but also by everyone who follows us. It was a fun move, and we are eager to try it again – but now in a new place,” says Lars Ljung, men’s coach for the Swedish national cross-country team, in a press release from the Swedish Ski Association.

“This period is where a lot is about getting used to and preparing the body for a long dryland season with a lot of training. This arrangement fits like a glove as we get many nice kilometers and hours at a low-intensity pace – but also in an adventure format where we constantly get to see new places and new roads,” says Lars Ljung, adding:

“Not least, we get to meet our followers and audience, who are so important to us. Now we get a chance to meet the interest in skiing in Sweden in places where we normally don’t train. So, it will be exciting and fun to see what the Halland coast offers.”

The journey from Ängelholm to Ulricehamn will mark the start of the national team camps during the summer and autumn seasons. This camp will end at the Ulricehamn ski stadium, where the national team will also race in the Svenska Spel Summer Tour, a 15km roller ski race in freestyle technique, on Saturday, June 1.
