The U23 World Ski Championships start at the end of January. The Norwegian Team is presented for the event in Whistler, Canada, from January 28 to February 4.

In a press release, the Norwegian Ski Association named their cross-country ski team for the Under-23 World Championships. Norway will start with 14 athletes. On the women’s side, Norway will begin with seven skiers. Already on the men’s side, also seven athletes will begin for the Scandinavian country.

According to the press release, “the goal is to field the best possible Team that can compete for medals in all races in the U23 World Championships. Four athletes line up for a start per distance. Selection criteria follow cross-country season information, and in the selection, emphasis is placed on results from the World Cup, Scandinavian Cup, and Equinor NorgesCup, in priority order. Athletes who perform in both sprint and distance have an advantage in the selection.”

“It has been a demanding selection,” says National Team Coordinator Ulf Morten Aune, adding that “the decision that Andreas Fjorden Ree is prioritized is because he is rated better in both styles (classic and skating) than nearby candidates.”
