The cross-country skiing World Cup heads to Beitostølen in Norway this weekend. The Norwegian Team is now presented.

Beitostølen, Norway, is the place of this year’s third stop for the cross-country skiing World Cup. The event begins on Friday, December 9, with a sprint race in classic technique. On Saturday, December 10, a 10km individual start in classic technique awaits. And on Sunday, December 11, the World Cup weekend ends with a mixed 4x5km relay. 

In a press release, the Norwegian Ski Association has named their cross-country ski team for the upcoming World Cup in Beitostølen. Norway will start with 39 athletes. On the women’s side, Norway will begin with 18 skiers. Already on the men’s side, 21 athletes will start for the Scandinavian country. 

Helene Marie Fossesholm, Ingvild Flugstad Østberg, and Sjur Røthe are not on the coming weekend’s start list. The three athletes will miss Beitostølen to focus on future competitions.

New this season is the same race distances for women and men in all World Cup events, as the International Ski & Snowboard Federation (FIS) decided in May. Several other changes have also been introduced to the World Cup.

The World Cup continues next weekend in Beitostølen, Norway. On the program, there is a sprint in classic technique on Friday, a 10km individual race in classic technique on Saturday, and a mixed relay on Sunday.
