Ingrid Vikman is the new Swedish national team coach for the cross-country skiing national team. The former Swedish national team skier lives in Norway, where she has worked as a coach since 2014.

According to a press release from the Swedish Ski Association, the last piece of the puzzle in the national team’s coaching staff is in place. Ingrid Vikman, 37, most recently came from a coaching job at WANG Toppidrett Hamar and had, among other things, attended several coaching courses in Norway. 

“With Ingrid, we get an extremely committed coach who will be an exciting addition to our coaching and leadership team. We have created a group of coaches who work together for Swedish skiing. The goal is to continue developing the team to provide active close follow-up and guidance towards the world top,” National team manager Anders Byström says on the decision. 

Ingrid Vikman will work 50 percent for the cross-country national team, mainly with the women at Team BAUHAUS. She is looking forward to returning to the other side of the national border. 

“This is an offer that is difficult to turn down. Sweden has an inspiring national team, and having the opportunity to work with their development is a challenge that appeals to me,” Vikman says. 

Ingrid Vikman has roots in Rättvik, Dalarna, Sweden, but has lived in Norway since 2006 and is based in the new position from her home in Vang, Valdres. The national team management sees a strength in that she can contribute knowledge and experience from her years as a coach in the neighboring country. 

“I worked a lot with Ingrid when I had the junior national team in Sweden and during my years in Norway, and I am happy to be able to recruit her home to Sweden as a coach. Ingrid is positive, committed, and has top qualities in many important points in the coaching profession,” says Anders Byström. 

Ingrid Vikman will begin her work with the national team on June 15 but will join the national team’s meeting in Falun on Friday to meet skiers and colleagues. 

“Of course, it feels extra great to be able to train the national team. There are so many incredible coaches, and I am very humbled to get the chance,” she says. 

The new coaching position involves close collaboration with all coaches in the national team squads: Stefan Thomson, Anders Högberg, Lars Ljung, Andreas Domeij, Ida Ingemarsdotter, Linda Danvind Malm and Mattias Nilsson.
