Johan Eliasch Re-Elected President and FIS Name Change

FIS President Johan Eliasch was re-elected today at the General Assembly of the 53rd International Congress held in Milan, Italy.

FIS President Johan Eliasch was re-elected today at the General Assembly of the 53rd International Congress held in Milan, Italy.

According to the FIS press release, Eliasch was the only candidate and was re-elected for his second term, now for four years, by the FIS Congress.

“I want to thank the FIS Family for their support and trust. The past year has shown that this can, and must, only be the beginning. I am grateful and excited for this clear mandate to continue our path to lead snow sports into a bright and successful future,” says Johan Eliasch in the press release.

Another critical step for FIS is the organization’s new name.

During the General Assembly, FIS delegates also approved a change in the organization’s official name. The official name will now include ‘Snowboard,’ with the new name International Ski and Snowboard Federation. The acronym will remain the same as FIS.
