Ski Classics World Championship Season XVIII reaches a defining moment on Sunday, March 7, 2027, when Vasaloppet, the season’s third Grand Classics event, takes center stage.

The legendary 90km race from Sälen to Mora is the oldest, longest, and most prestigious long-distance ski event on the Ski Classics World Championship calendar, with a heritage unmatched in Nordic skiing. First held in 1922 and inspired by Gustav Vasa’s historic escape in 1520, Vasaloppet blends tradition, athleticism, and Swedish winter culture. Every year, thousands of skiers gather in Sälen’s wide start area to tackle the journey to Mora.

Last season, Emilie Fleten and Oskar Kardin claimed victory in Mora, and the race once again promises to reward endurance, precise pacing, and the tactical instincts required over 90km of fast racing.

This past winter, we reached two million finishes in Mora, a symbolic milestone that reflects both the strength of tradition and the growing breadth of Vasaloppet’s events.
