Welcome to a spectacular folk festival in urban, Arctic surroundings

Marcialonga Bodø
On Saturday, March 21, 2026, Northern Norway’s most beautiful ski race, Marcialonga Bodø, will take place in Bodø.

Marcialonga Bodø showcases both the best of Nordland nature, as well as the vibrant urban city life in the world’s smallest big city.

Compact event

Marcialonga Bodø offers 45km, 18km, and a 6km distances, in addition to a live television broadcast of the Ski Classics elite 50-kilometer race.

The event is perfect for those who want to combine urban city life with spectacular Arctic nature. Bodø is the largest city in the Ski Classics Pro circus, and can offer several hotels and restaurants of international class. In the compact city right across the Arctic Circle, everything is within walking distance. Add to that the fact that there are very good connections to all of Europe from the busy regional airport in the middle of the city.

“You can get a lot done during a weekend during Marcialonga Bodø. Unlike other races, you don’t have to spend hours on bus transfers. Everything is within walking distance,” says Skjalg Dreyer, general manager of Marcialonga Bodø.

Activities

In Bodø, you can combine participation in cross-country skiing with activities in the immediate vicinity of where you live. A rib-boat trip to the world’s strongest maelstrom, Saltstraumen, is both spectacular and popular. Børvasstindene, outside the city, is a popular destination for guided summit tours with Randonnée skis.

And if you want to take a wintery dip in Arctic water, we recommend doing so alongside a visit to Pust-badstua in the middle of Bodø city center. Add to that the fact that Bodø has an international nightlife, with restaurants that focus on both local and international cuisine, brown pubs, and youthful clubs with live music.

Bodø is north of the Arctic Circle, and the race takes place at a time when the northern lights can often be observed in the middle of Nordland’s capital.

“Bodø is great for Northern Lights spotting. During the two years the race has been organized, visitors have been able to fully appreciate the northern lights,” says Dreyer.
