Today, this year’s Swedish biathlon season kicks off at Idre Fjäll. Here you’ll find start lists, TV times, and other important information ahead of the competitions.

The Swedish biathlon season begins tomorrow with two sprint races at Idre Fjäll. Due to current snow conditions, the organizers have been forced to make changes to the program. The original plan was to hold a short individual race and a standard sprint.

Now, instead, there will be two sprint competitions. Because there is not enough snow for a penalty loop, time penalties will be applied for each missed shot: 25 seconds for women and 22 seconds for men.

Large start fields

There are large start fields in both the women’s and men’s races, with several World Cup stars on site. In addition to the Swedish national team athletes, the German national team is also present with its best athletes. The field is further strengthened by Italy’s Lukas Hofer and Lisa Vittozzi.

HERE you can find the start lists for the competitions.

The races mark the start of the battle for Olympic spots ahead of this winter’s Games in Milano-Cortina.
