Sparbanken Nord Classic, held during Dundret runt weekend, becomes part of the Ski Classics Challengers circuit with a 47km long-distance ski race in classic technique, taking place on April 3, 2027, in Gällivare, Sweden.

Dundret Runt is one of Sweden’s classic cross-country skiing events, a spring tradition in Gällivare since 1965. The first edition was held on April 11, 1965, with 228 participants, and the 2026 event marked the 60th edition of the race.

The event takes place at Hellnerstadion, at the foot of Dundret, surrounded by the landscapes of Swedish Lapland. Sparbanken Nord Classic is the competitive long-distance race within the Dundret Runt weekend, held exclusively in classic technique over 47km. A recreational class is also offered, with distances of 13km, 31km, or 47km.

The course combines long stretches across open mires and forests with demanding climbs, including the sections around Kuolpapasset and Saivovaara. The race is also considered a strong option for skiers aiming to improve their seeding for Vasaloppet, alongside its appeal to elite and experienced recreational skiers alike.

Dundret Runt has built its reputation on more than just competition, with an atmosphere built around the landscape, the local ski tradition, and generations of skiers who have returned to Gällivare each spring.

“Joining Ski Classics Challengers is a fantastic opportunity for Dundret Runt to introduce our unique ski tradition to an even wider international audience,” said the event’s organizers. “For more than 60 years, skiers have come to Gällivare to experience the beautiful landscape around Dundret. We are proud to welcome both elite skiers and recreational skiers to a true Swedish Lapland ski experience.”

Registrations for Sparbanken Nord Classic open on October 1, 2026.
