The 49th Dobbiaco/Toblach–Cortina looks ahead to 2026

Toblach-Cortina
As winter 2026 approaches, the legendary Dobbiaco–Cortina Granfondo is gearing up for an edition like no other. On January 17–18, thousands of cross-country skiers will glide through the heart of the Dolomites — just weeks before the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics bring the same valleys to the global stage.

The Olympic vibe is already in the air. The racecourse will see some minor adjustments to accommodate the upcoming Games. Still, the essence of the Granfondo remains the same: breathtaking landscapes, a mix of elite skiers and passionate amateurs from around the world, and that unmistakable alpine energy that has defined the event for nearly fifty years.

The weekend program sticks to the beloved formula:

  • Saturday, January 17, 2026 – 42km Classic
  • Sunday, January 18, 2026 – 35km Skate

Both races start and finish in Dobbiaco, with the opening stretch from the Military Airport and the finish line located at the iconic Nordic Arena, one of the most renowned cross-country venues in Europe. Participants can expect the usual goosebumps, both at the start with the heartbeat from the loudspeakers, when they parade at the foot of the most iconic peaks of the Dolomites, and when they finally reach the finish line and wear their well-deserved finisher medal.

Saturday’s long course follows the historic railway route towards Cortina, winding past San Candido, Lake Dobbiaco, the War Cemetery, Lake Landro, the Three Peaks Viewpoint, Val Fonda, Carbonin, and Passo Cimabanche — a true journey through the most dramatic corners of the Dolomites.

On Sunday, the skaters take over, with a slightly shorter and faster track that skips the San Candido section and Val Fonda uphill and invites full-throttle skiing from start to finish.

Behind the scenes, the event serves as a perfect showcase of teamwork between Dobbiaco and Cortina, two communities united by their shared passion for cross-country skiing. The organizers are once again promising a top-quality race package, complete with a special extra gift for those brave enough to tackle both races over the weekend.
