With some changes, the Ski Classics Challengers events, Ganghoferlauf Classic and Skating, are confirmed for Saturday, March 1, and Sunday, March 2, in Leutasch, Austria.

With some changes, the Ski Classics Challengers events, Ganghoferlauf Classic and Skating, are confirmed for Saturday, March 1, and Sunday, March 2, in Leutasch, Austria.

Ganghoferlauf entered the Ski Classics Challengers series a few years ago with two long-distance skiing races – Classic and Skating – and will host the double event at Leutasch.

On its 58th edition, Ganghoferlauf has long been known far beyond the Tyrolean borders. The Ski Classics Challengers events, originally planned to take place in Leutasch with a 50km race in classic technique on Saturday, March 1, and a 42km event in freestyle technique on Sunday, March 2, are now shortened to 42km – Classic, and 41km – Skating.

According to the Local Organizing Committee: “For quality reasons, the routes will be shortened this year, and several laps will be run. The start is at the Ganghofer Ski Stadium (near the Leutasch football pitch), and the finish area will be at the Wettersteinhalle Leutasch. The start of the Mini and Special Ganghoferlauf, the Expo Area, the Opening Ceremony, the Pasta Party, and the big raffle will also take place there. The race office (Saal Hohe Munde) and the shower facilities (Alpenbad Leutasch or Wettersteinhalle) are also in the immediate vicinity,” and added:

“The routes lead from the Ganghofer Ski Stadium to the Muggenmoos and back to the Wettersteinhalle. Depending on the distance/race, there are 1-3 laps to complete. Please note that there will be 1-2 different laps per distance/race. These are labelled at the junctions as ‘Long Lap’ (Lange Runde) and ‘Short Lap’ (Kurze Runde). Except for the Fun Race, which will be run in one lap and is labelled ‘10 km Fun Race’. The respective routes are explained below, and the route maps including elevation profiles are correctly linked in each case. Please memorize the routes so that you know exactly how to run come race day!”

Classic Long Distance: 2x Long Lap 16 km + 1x Short Lap 10,0 km = 42 km / 367 hm
= 2x Long Lap to Muggenmoos + 1x Short Lap “Moos”

Classic Short Distance: 1x Long Lap 16 km + 1 x Short Lap 10 km = 26 km / 211 hm
= 1x Long Lap to Muggenmoos + 1x Short Lap “Moos”

Skating Long Distance: 1x Long Lap 16 km + 2x Short Lap 12,5 km = 41 km / 351 hm
= 1x Long Lap to Muggenmoos + 2x Short Lap “Skating Center”

Skating Short Distance: 2x Short Lap 12,5 km = 25 km / 120 hm
= 2x Short Lap “Skating Center”

Fun Race 10 km: 1x Short Lap 10 km = 10 km / 51 hm
= 1x Short Lap “Moos”
