Simon Jonsson is not the most famous skier in Ski Classics, but he got famous for an entirely different reason last year.

After he finished Birkebeinerrennet, Simon had a cardiac arrest and was “dead” for 12 minutes when his heart stopped. He was rushed to the hospital in Lillehammer and later transported by helicopter to Oslo, where he was put in a coma for 24 hours.

He is like a miracle back training with his Ski Team Göhlins today.

His new role is as Pro Team Director, but he follows the team on roller skis and training sessions. Simon Jonsson does not know if he will ever be able to compete, and the doctors disagree on how he should behave.

His story is nearly unbelievable, and his calm after the drama is also impressive.

Now, his focus is on Ski Team Göhlins, the small team from Småland in southern Sweden. A team where he has been since the team started.

The full interview with Simon Jonsson is available on the Ski Classics Play streaming service.
