The Ski Classics Challengers event Klarälvsloppet, a 90km long-distance rollers ki race in classic technique, took place today in Karlstad, Sweden. Amund Riege, Team Ramudden, showed his form and won the men’s race. 

Many Ski Classics Pro Team athletes, traditional cross-country skiers, and World Cup skiers from the Swedish National Team matched their skills in a 90km long-distance roller ski race today in Sweden. After a long day on the road, starting in Uddeholm and finishing at Karlstad, the Ski Classics Challengers event Klarälvsloppet saw Amund Riege, Team Ramudden, winning the race in a tight sprint finish.

Klarälvsloppet – Men’s Race

In the men’s competition, the battle was fierce from the beginning, with a big leading group keeping a high pace. 

After one hour of a fast-paced race, a breakaway tried to materialize containing three solid names (Torgeir Sulen Hovland, Team Ragde Charge; Torleif Syrstad, Lager 157 Ski Team; and Calle Halfvarsson, Swedish National Team). The break didn’t last long and was brought back by the big front group. 

Another potential break was formed after about 56km into the race (Vebjørn Møen, Team Eksjöhus, and Markus Hallén Johansson, Offerdals SK). The duo got a gap of over 30 seconds but also was brought back by an attentive group.

The action continued until the last kilometers of the race, with 21 athletes in the front group with nine kilometers to go and within 12.8 seconds apart. In the end, all seemed to be set for a big sprint finish, but a bridge crossing just before the finish line saw a small gap being created, and that decided the race. 

At the end, Amund Riege, Team Ramudden, surprised his opponents and won the race with a total time of 3:22:27.7. Oskar Opstad Vike, Team Ragde Charge, finished in second place, 0.3 seconds behind, followed by Emil Persson, Lager 157 Ski Team, 0.5 seconds back, and completing the podium in the third position.
