The 20-year-old from Norway crushed the competition at the Sjusjøen Ski Marathon this weekend.

As last weekend’s Ski Classics Pro Tour event, Jizerská50 in the Czech Republic had to be canceled, Pro Team athletes were racing long-distance skiing races on home ground this weekend; the Sjusjøen Ski Marathon was one of them. 

The results list in the elite category could just as easily have been taken from a race in the prestigious long-distance series: Among the top 10 on the men’s side, there were eight Pro Team skiers, including the entire podium and the first five places. 

On the women’s side, it was also the long-distance elite who were to settle for the victory. That match was won by the junior talent Solveig Lie Støverud, Team Ragde Charge, by a solid margin.  

Team Ragde Charge had high expectations when they signed with Støverud ahead of the current season. And at the weekend, the 20-year-old had a solid performance, winning the 43-kilometer-long race with a margin of almost four minutes to home favorite Julie Kvåle Støstad from the Lillehammer-based Pro Team, Team Næringsbanken Stora Enso.

Even though the Sjusjøen Skimarathon this year ran parallel to the Holmenkollmarsjen, the race attracted almost 450 participants. The race in Nordmarka ended with a strong performance from Team Ragde Charge’s skiers.

One of two junior talents in Ragde Charge
Støverud is Team Ragde Charge’s second junior signing. The year before, Aukland’s long-distance team signed Oskar Opstad Vike. And while Støverud went to the Sjusjøen Skimarathon this weekend, Vike was busy with the Junior World Championships in Planica. 

The 20-year-old was initially only named for the World Championships sprint, the first event in the championship, but was also included in the 20-kilometer freestyle on Wednesday.
