Stage 14 – Saint-Étienne to Mende 192.5km
“Today is Saturday, and there is a mountain stage again. We start where it ended yesterday and have the finish line in Mende. The journey thus continues southwest in the direction of the Pyrenees, where the last week begins. It is a hilly stage, but it is the last half that it will be hard. Once inside the beautiful sports town of Mende, cyclists go towards the small airport at an altitude of just over 1.000 meters. It’s three steep kilometers at the mountain price, followed by one and a half kilometers where a lot has happened over the years, and it may not be easy to control. The first time the finish was located here was in 1995. Laurent Jalabert (who had the mountain named after him) won after his entire ONCE team pressed Miguel Indurain hard. Most recently, a Spaniard, Omar Fraile, won in 2018,” says Vacchi.
The broadcast starts on Eurosport at 12:30. Neutralized start at 12:15. Expected arrival is at 17:05.
