The city of Lahti, Finland’s Ministry of Education and Culture, and Salppuri Oy have officially expressed their interest in organizing the 2029 Nordic World Ski Championships.

During the FIS Congress held last week in Italy, the city of Lahti, Finland, the Ministry of Education and Culture and Salppury Oy, a company owned by the Lahti Ski Association and the Finnish Ski Association, made a bid to host the 2029 World Championships.

The 2025 Nordic World Ski Championships will be held in Trondheim, Norway. The 2027 World Championships were awarded to Falun, Sweden, last Thursday, and the Lahti bidding is the only one at the moment, although the official application period will continue until May 1, 2023.

Nordic World Ski Championships have been held in Lahti seven times before: 1926, 1938, 1958, 1978, 1989, 2001, and 2017.
