FIS Games now set for 2028
Last year in October, the International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS) launched the FIS Games, a new event for all FIS disciplines, both alpine and Nordic disciplines, that would be arranged every four years, in the years when there are neither the Olympics nor the World Championships.
At the time, FIS President Johan Eliasch confirmed that the first FIS Games would be held as early as 2024 and the next in 2028.

But now, FIS confirmed in a press release that the first Games will be held only in 2028.
“The road to the inaugural FIS Games 2028 has officially started,” says the press release and continues:
“The FIS Games will be the greatest of all snow sports events, a landmark celebration bringing the FIS family together as never before. Taking place over 16 days, the Games will represent the full range of snow sports talent from both Olympic and Non-Olympic sports – including, of course, para snow sports. From Alpine to Freestyle, Freeski and Snowboard and Nordic, from Telemark to Speed Skiing and Freeride, the world’s greatest athletes will showcase their talents in front of a global audience.”
The official application deadline to host the Games is November 1, 2023. The FIS Council will elect the host of the inaugural FIS Games 2028 in the spring of 2024.
