Finnish Cup: Results From The Weekend Premiere

The Finnish Cup Premiere took place last weekend in Vuokatti, Finland. Results from the skating sprint and classic relay. 

The weekend premiere started on Saturday with a 1.3km sprint in freestyle technique. In the men’s race, Lauri Lepistö, Jämin Jänne, won the gold medal. From Imatran Urheilijat, Olli Ahonen secured the silver medal, and Ike Melnits, Kankaantaan Kisa, completed the podium with the bronze medal.

In the women’s sprint race, Jasmi Joensuu, Vantaan Hiihtoseura, secured the gold medal. From Kainuun Hiihtoseura, Anni Alakoski, finished in second place and got the silver medal. Anni Lindroos, Pargas IF, completed the podium in the third position and got the bronze medal.

On Sunday, Kainuun Hiihtoseura and Imatran Urheilijat 1 dominated the women’s 3x6km and men’s 3x9km relay races in classic technique at the Finnish Cup in Vuokatti. 

In the women’s race, Kainuun Hiihtoseura (Johanna Ukkola, Anne Kyllönen, and Anni Alakoski) took home first place. Vantaan Hiihtoseura (Rebecca Immonen, Anni Kainulainen, and Jasmi Joensuu) snagged second place, and Vuokatti Ski Team Kainuu (Jasmin Kähärä, Eveliina Piippo, and Katri Lylynperä) completed the podium in third place. 

Top 3 – Women’s Relay 3x6km C

  1. Kainuun Hiihtoseura (Johanna Ukkola, Anne Kyllönen, and Anni Alakoski), 51:55.9
  2. Vantaan Hiihtoseura (Rebecca Immonen, Anni Kainulainen, and Jasmi Joensuu), 52:50.7
  3. Vuokatti Ski Team Kainuu (Jasmin Kähärä, Eveliina Piippo, and Katri Lylynperä), 52:55.2

In the men’s race, we saw Imatran Urheilijat 1 (Olli Ahonen, Ville Ahonen, and Miro Karppanen) taking home first place. Jämin Jänne (Markus Vuorela, Ristomatti Hakola, and Lauri Lepistö) snagged second place, and Puijon Hiihtoseura (Petteri Koivisto, Joonas Sarkkinen, and Perttu Hyvärinen) completed the podium in third place.
