Finnish Championships gears up with new leadership at Vantaa Ski Club
This prestigious Finnish event, scheduled to take place at the Hakunila Sports Park in February 2024, will also mark the 50th anniversary of the City of Vantaa, an occasion celebrated with a specially crafted logo.
According to a press release, Seppänen, a 29-year-old prodigy holding a Master of Science in Economics and Sports Sciences from Espoo, is set to assume his role on Monday, September 4. His primary responsibility entails orchestrating the Finnish Championships and collaborating closely with the organization team to ensure a seamless event that will be held from February 2 to 4, 2024.
Considering no World Championships next winter, Kari-Pekka Seppänen underscores the increased significance of the Finnish Championships in the sporting calendar.
“Now more than ever, companies have the opportunity to become invaluable partners with the Finnish Championship. When there are no World Championships next winter, the visibility of the televised Finnish Championships will be one of the season’s highlights. Companies can support children’s and young people’s skiing by being part,” says Seppänen.
Seppänen brings a wealth of experience to his new role, having previously served as a club developer at the Finnish Ski Association and as the Executive Director of the orienteering club Espoon Suunta. Notably, he currently holds the position of competition director for Espoo-Jukola in 2028, a testament to his commitment to the sporting community.
Time for celebration
Adding to the festive atmosphere, the Finnish Championships has adopted a commemorative logo, a tribute to the 50th anniversary of the City of Vantaa. This logo honors the city’s rich history and encapsulates its dedication to fostering popular sports and physical well-being.
“Vantaa is a ski city that invests in one of Finland’s most popular sports and forms of exercise. It is also good to remind people of this with the competition logo,” affirms Jussi Eronen, Chairman of Vantaa Ski Club.
