She was in the shape of her life when the fall in Granåsen crushed her World Championship dreams. Now, nine months before the Olympics, Linn Svahn reveals that she has been hit by a new injury.
Linn Svahn has barely trained since the accident that hit her the day before the World Championships sprint in Trondheim. It’s been over two months, and no one knows when the Swedish star can return to normal training.
She won the sprint World Cup. She has also won distance races in the World Cup and finished second overall last winter. But she won’t sacrifice her sprint form to win the World Cup. “I will never be a new Therese Johaug,” says Linn Svahn, who very much wants to win the World Championship sprint in Trondheim in 2025.
Last winter, she won five individual races in the World Cup, took home the Sprint Cup, and challenged Jessie Diggins for the overall World Cup victory until the last winter race. During summer, Linn Svahn made an interesting change in her training: “I will continue with double threshold days in my training plan,” says Svahn.
No one captured more medals than this year’s comeback sensation: Three days after the World Cup final in Falun, the 24-year-old Swedish embarked on a wild medal raid.
The Swedish cross-country skier Linn Svahn is preparing for a competitive comeback after her shoulder injury, but it will take a few more weeks. “I don’t want to gamble,” says Svahn to Viaplay.
