Val di Fiemme calling all Norwegians

Summer season is vacation time as well as training time for many athletes. The region of Trentino is an ideal place to combine these two aspects, and in the summer of 2023, it welcomed important teams and athletes of different disciplines.

Team Coop is ready for the Marcialonga Run on September 2.

Norway’s men’s national alpine ski team (Aleksander Aamodt Kilde, Lucas Braathen, Henrik Kristoffersen, Sebastian Foss Solevåg, Atle Lie McGrath) was in Trentino for a week of training, May 21 to 26, for the second consecutive year.

Lavazè, in Val di Fiemme, has been the choice of Germany’s and Finland’s cross-country ski teams, Sweden’s biathlon team, and other important international stars. In this context, Norway certainly could not be missing. They will be in Val di Fiemme from August 31 to September 9 with the elite women’s team, which includes Tiril Udnes Weng, Heidi Weng, Ingvild Flugstad Østberg, Helene Marie Fossesholm and many more.

Curiously, there will also be “development groups” of promising men and women athletes who will try to compete with the elite groups. At the men’s team, Simen Hegstad Krüger might also be present to train at high altitudes to be in the best possible shape for the winter.

Fiemme and Fassa valleys are ready to welcome not only the champions but also many sportsmen and running lovers.

In fact, on September 2, the 21st Marcialonga Running Coop will take place, the running race signed by Marcialonga. The participants can choose between 3 types of competitions: half marathon (Moena – Masi di Cavalese) – 26 km (Moena – Cavalese) or the relay with three runners.

Val di Fiemme offers stunning landscapes and training experiences.

The race starts from Moena, the same as the Marcialonga Ski, and it runs on the bike path through Predazzo, Ziano di Fiemme, Lago di Tesero – through the Olympic cross-country ski stadium – and Masi di Cavalese. This is where the road goes uphill towards Cavalese, not the same way as the legendary Cascata Climb, but still fascinating, with a beautiful view of the whole valley at sunset.

Anyone who has already taken part in the Marcialonga of Fiemme and Fassa knows well the incredible landscape with the Dolomites, the warm welcome of the inhabitants, and the excellent organization.

COOP is the main sponsor of the event, and this year, there will be the new COOP RUNNING TROPHY to celebrate the 10th year of collaboration between Coop Trentino and Coop Norway, a moment of sport and entertainment reserved for the administrators and collaborators of the European Consumer Cooperatives.

The trophy will be assigned to the best COOP or nation based on individual performance and number of team members.

The Team COOP representing Norway will be formed by champions and amateurs. The team is aiming for good results and also to inspire people to ski and be healthy. Together with our main sponsor, Coop, the team brings many people to some of the biggest races and events – both elite and for the masses.

Among the elite athletes, the Petter brothers, Mårten Soleng Skinstad and Mathias Aas Rolid were always good friends and supporters of Marcialonga. Along with them, Marcialonga will be honored to host one of the greatest cross-country skiers of all time, Hans Christer Holund.

For Team COOP, this race is a moment of friendship with Val di Fiemme and Marcialonga, and many activities are scheduled for the weekend of sport and fun in pure Italian style. In particular, on Friday morning, we will start with the “Coop Morning Run,” a short run to awaken the muscles. Everyone can participate, from Norway to Italy, feeling united in a moment of well-being.
