Granfondo Dobbiaco/Toblach-Cortina | The 47th edition’s weekend will kick off with a music bang

Every winter, the snow-covered peaks of the Dolomites come alive with the adrenaline-pumping energy of the Dobbiaco-Cortina Ski-Marathon. This iconic event, scheduled for the 3rd and 4th of February 2024, promises not only thrilling skiing but also a unique opportunity to immerse oneself in the life of Dobbiaco & Cortina d’Ampezzo: two small Italian mountain towns, well known for their quality hospitality and their knack for organizing both sports and cultural events.

The first February weekend, the fixed date for the Dobbiaco-Cortina Ski-Marathon, confirms itself for 2024 as one of the highlights of the winter tourist season. Who’s that band?

Thomas Gansch is not only one of the most versatile trumpeters of his generation but also a composer, arranger, pop singer, big band leader, and conductor of wind orchestras. He enthusiastically participates in various projects. In this case, Gansch was invited as an Artist in Residence for the winter semester of 2023/24 at the Jazz Department of the “Gustav Mahler Private University of Music” (GMPU) in Klagenfurt. Over several days, Gansch will conduct workshops for students and collaborate with the “GMPU Jazz Orchestra” to develop a refreshing concert program. This program will be presented on February 2nd at the Euregio Cultural Center in Toblach. The band, with Gansch as the featured soloist, will perform a variety of classics from the big band history as well as his own compositions on stage.
