Energamo Lipnolopet 2023

Ski Classics Challengers had its premiere in the Czech Republic last year during the national championship in long-distance roller skiing. The organizers from the eD system Silvini team, led by Marek Pazderský (Pro Team Director of the Year) and Luboš Krejza, prepared a fun weekend for all ages, and this year will be no different.

The beautiful surroundings around the Lipno reservoir and the Šumava mountains offer great opportunities for perfect training and preparation for the winter season. We invite all Pro Teams from Ski Classics to attend a training camp and the Energamo Lipnolopet 2023.

Traveling from Central Europe is relatively easy. From the airport in Vienna, Prague, or Munich, it is 2.5-3 hours by car. It’s also a 3-hour drive to the Dachstein Glacier in Austria if anyone wants to combine sports camp with the race.

On Friday evening (October 6), there is a 1km city sprint for the Frymburk Town Prize. Then, on Saturday (October 7), the skiers will take a ferry to the start (about 5 minutes), and the mass start for the women on all three distances we offer will start at 10:00. Ten minutes after the women, the men will start on the same distances.

The main Energamo Lipnolopet race is run over 55km, the shorter, less hilly one over 22km, and for the youth athletes, only a 9km uphill. All distances then share a tough climb to the finish on St. Thomas, and a bus will take the skiers back down to the start area.

The 55km race starts with a flat course around the Lipno reservoir, and after 14km, there will be a Sprint checkpoint (prize money). Then comes the first refreshment station and a long climb to Pasečná, where there is a Climb Checkpoint (prize money) and other refreshments on kilometer 26.

Between kilometers 20 and 40, we ride the most beautiful part of the route, where we roller ski along the border with Austria and have a beautiful view of the Alps, passing beaver dams and the historic Schwarzenberg canal for transporting wood.

We then return to Lake Lipno, and after passing the start area again, there is a final refreshment station and a final climb with a 14% gradient in short sections. A total of 55km and 850 meters of climbing will perfectly test if you are well prepared for winter.

The surroundings of Lake Lipno are full of beautiful nature, many recreational areas, wellness hotels, cycling trails, and water sports, but also cable cabins, lifts, ski slopes, mountain bike trails, and treetop paths.

Half an hour’s drive away is Český Krumlov, whose historic center, built inside a giant meander of the Vltava River, is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site and worth visiting. Energamo Lipnolopet is one of the few long-distance roller ski events outside Scandinavia and has great potential to become one of the biggest races before winter. Don’t hesitate to come and try one of the races or cheer and get to know the local surroundings.
