After Båstad-Mölle and Värnamorullen, the next addition to the Visma Ski Classics Challengers has been confirmed. Vaajmarathon is a unique event where the athletes cross the border to Norway during the race. The 45km course stretches from Rötviken to Sørli, hometown of the Norwegian ski legend Frode Estil and not far from the home village of Team Engcon’s Laila Kveli.

“We are enthusiastic to be a part of Visma Ski Classics Challengers, I really believe that this unique event with the border crossing and beautiful surroundings has a bright future. To be a part of the Visma Ski Classics family means a lot for us. It gives us a unique opportunity and support to make the race grow,” says Gunnar Sandberg, Chief of Competition.

This year’s edition already takes place on July 31, approximately three weeks from now. Unfortunately, this year the course will stay in Sweden due to the restrictions of the pandemic. But the event will still be a beautiful one with many possible stars competing in the Visma Ski Classics Pro Tour living nearby. There is a chance that we will see both of the yellow bib holders, Lina Korsgren and Emil Persson, on the start line.

The race is open both for the elite and for recreational skiers. There is also a 25 km race available. You can find more info about registration at hotagensc.com.

All participants will be able to collect points for the SC ranking which they can check by signing up for free to MyPages. MyPages provides one common ranking for women and men, professionals and recreational skiers alike.

Pro Team registered athletes can collect points for the Visma Ski Classics Champion and Youth competitions in respective gender.

A list of Challengers events with confirmed dates for season 2021/22 can be found at vismaskiclassics.com. The list will be updated continuously with new events.
