Almost one month after leaving Southern Sweden, Fredrik Erixon will reach Barcelona today or tomorrow. For ProXCskiing.com, Erixon shares his feelings before reaching his ultimate goal.

Fredrik Erixon, how did you manage to cross the Pyrenees?

“I did some really good research before crossing the Pyrenees, but going down was a bit tricky. It took me a while, but I made it. There was one place that was too steep, so I took off my roller skis to go down walking; it was safer. Otherwise, I managed to do it, reaching 52 km/h as a maximum speed. I’m glad that it’s over.”

Are you still on your own, or did someone join you for the end of the journey?

“The last person on my filming team just arrived in Spain and will be with me for the remaining part of the trip. He will capture me when I reach Barcelona. Having another friend with me is nice since I left Jonas in the Jura Mountains. It’s so nice having someone take care of the photos and filming.”

How do you feel after 28 days on your roller skis

“Honestly, I’m quite happy that I am reaching Barcelona. It has been harder than I thought from a mental perspective. I am 53, and going roller skiing for 90km or more every morning is hard. Having a goal has been really good, and now it’s so close, so I manage to stay motivated. It’s easier now that we are two since my friend joined me to film the last part of my journey. I am really looking forward to reaching Barcelona.”

Erixon reaches Spain 28 days after leaving Sweden.

“Physically, it’s getting harder and harder; I have a couple of small injuries: my eyes are tired, my neck is stiff and sunburned, my shoulders have two sore spots, and my right shoulder is painful. Lifting and moving them are increasingly difficult; scratching my neck is completely impossible.”

“I have bruises and abrasions on my hips and wrists. Of course, I have blisters on both hands! My left knee is a mess, and it hurts most of the time. My heels are drying out and cracking. My toes often go numb after a while, and finally, I lost my left toenail. But I am most satisfied with my ‘motorcycle mustache’! (and laughs).”
