This Norwegian Pro Team consists of seven upcoming and promising skiers who want to show their team’s colors this winter. Team Næringsbanken Stora Enso secured the 7th position in the Pro Team ranking during Season XIV and now aims higher and finish in the top 6 overall and fight for individual top 3 positions in the upcoming winter season.

Team Næringsbanken Stora Enso is based in Sjusjøen and Lillehammer area, where conditions are perfect for training all year round, and their goal is to recruit strong skiers locally but also have an attractive offer for some of the best international athletes in Ski Classics.

In this sense, the Pro Team counts on local power with five Norwegian athletes but also has an international flavor with skiers from Sweden and France. For the upcoming Ski Classics Season XV, the team is bringing seven Pro Team athletes, four women and three men: Michelle Hasle (1996), Julia Angelsiöö (1996), Julie Kvale Støstad (1998), Marie Renée Sørum Gangsø (1994), Haakon Holden (1993), Henrik Arntzen Joks (1999), and Thomas Joly (1998).

“We have been involved in Ski Classics since 2015 and have managed to assert ourselves more every year. The interest in long-distance in Norway and across the globe is only getting bigger, and the development of Ski Classics over the past five to six years has been formidable,” says Pro Team Director Arnt Nyborg in an interview with ProXCskiing.com.

Reflecting on their goals for the upcoming season, the Pro Team Director says: “Team Næringsbanken Stora Enso has the goal of being in the top 6 of all the teams in Ski Classics season 2023/2024. Our main goal is to recruit strong skiers locally from around Lillehammer, but also have an attractive offer for some of the best international athletes in Ski Classics. The team works closely with the YC Rør Sjusjøen Ski Team, which is organized through the same organization.” Arnt Nyborg elaborates:

“This season, the team has some international top skiers. Thomas Joly, Haakon Holden, and Marie Renée Gangsø are some of the best athletes. The youngest athletes are Henrik Arntzen Joks and Julie Kvale Støstad. Julie has done well in the summer roller ski races, with 11th place at Alliansloppet as her best result.”

Nyborg also talked about the team’s individual ambitions for Season XV: “The team’s goal for the winter is to fight for top 3 positions in some races and top 10 results in all races,” and elaborated on some of the Pro Team’s strengthens:

“The team has a good social environment, and the collaboration with YC Rør Sjusjøen Ski Team ensures a good environment and matching during training and training camps.”
