This year’s edition of the Stockholm Marathon took place this weekend, and a new participation record was set.

The Stockholm Marathon was held this Saturday on the streets of the Swedish capital. Nearly 24.000 runners had registered, and 19.431 of them made it to the start line. Several skiing profiles appear in the results list.

On the men’s side, Kenyan Onemus Kiplagat Kiplimo won ahead of his compatriot Edwin Kosgei. The winning time was 2:11:34. Johannes Eklöf, who competes for Ski Team Göhlins in Ski Classics, impressed a few weeks ago at the Swedish Half Marathon Championships. This weekend, he followed that up by finishing 23rd overall in the Stockholm Marathon with a time of 02:28:25. He placed a strong 13th in the Swedish Championships.

In the women’s race, Ethiopia took the top two spots, with Shewarge Alene proving strongest in the final stretch. Wilma Modig from Karlstad had only run one marathon before but surprisingly won the Swedish Championships. Overall, she finished fifth with a time of 02:36:03.

Former Olympic medalist and well-known profile Anna Jönsson Haag also ran the Stockholm Marathon. She crossed the finish line in 61st place with a time of 03:05:21.

Madelene Nord has been among the top athletes in Sweden’s long-distance skiing cup 157XCC Originals in recent seasons. Last season, she competed for the German Pro Team Bruse Sauerland Ski Team. She sprinted to the finish in 145th place overall and ran 42.195 meters in 03:17:13.

Julia Löfström finished in the top 10 at the Swedish Championships in Borås this past winter. She also ran the Stockholm Marathon and finished with a time of 03:21:51, in 193rd place.
