Silly Season: Joakim Augustsson New Waxing Chief For Team Eksjöhus

In a press release, Team Eksjöhus announced that Joakim Augustsson would be joining the Pro Team as the new waxing chief. Augustsson’s merit list includes Olympic and World Cup moments, over 15 years in the Swedish national ski team, and two seasons of Ski Classics.

“I love the atmosphere in Ski Classics and have been impressed by Team Eksjöhus’ great success during the season. I look forward to being part of a strong team and a professional organization,” says Joakim Augustsson in the press release.

Joakim Augustsson has over 23 years of experience in waxing teams in the Swedish, American, and Japanese national ski teams. But at the top of the merit list, according to him, is Johan Olsson’s achievement gold-awarded contribution in the 50km in Val Di Fiemme 2013 and Björn Lind’s Olympic gold in Turin 2006, where Joakim was responsible for the skis.

Two years ago, he took the step over to long-distance skiing and Ski Classics in the role of waxing manager for Team Engcon, something that caught Team Eksjöhus’ interest.

“The right competence in the wax bus is a prerequisite for our skiers to succeed in reaching their goals. With Joakim, we feel incredibly safe and give our skiers the absolute best conditions. The fact that the agreement extends over two years also feels important for the team’s stability,” says Espen Trældal, sports manager in Team Eksjöhus.

After two years in the long-distance skiing world, Joakim can state that both competition and knowledge have increased significantly in recent years.

“Both skiers and wax teams have raised the level in Ski Classics. The competition has become tougher, and there are significantly more teams fighting for the podium than before. The hope is to contribute to even more victories and podium places for Team Eksjöhus next season,” concludes Joakim Augustsson.
