Karppanen And Kainulainen Winners of Lake Saimaa Roller Ski Marathon

The Ski Classics Challengers event, Lake Saimaa Roller Ski Marathon, took place this Sunday with a 60km race in classic technique in Imatra, Finland.

The Ski Classics Challengers event, Lake Saimaa Roller Ski Marathon, took place this Sunday with a 60km race in classic technique in Imatra, Finland.

After a day full of action, the Ski Classics Challengers event saw Miro Karppanen, Team Kaskipuu, and Anni Kainulainen, Vantaan Hihtoseura, win the race with solid performances.

In the men’s competition, the winner was Miro Karppanen, Team Kaskipuu, with a total time of 2:29:28.8. Lauri Mannila, Taivalkosken Metsä-Veikot 85, finished in second place, with a time of 2:29:29.4, followed by Olli Ahonen, Imatran Urheilijat, with a total time of 2:29:31.1 and completing the podium in the third position. 

On the women’s side, just two women finished the race. Anni Kainulainen, Vantaan Hiihtoseura, with a time of 3:17:53.7, won ahead of Jasmin Turunen, Lappeen Riento, who finished the race with a total time of 4:07:25.5

As Lake Saimaa Roller Ski Marathon is a Ski Classics Challengers event, Pro Team registered athletes could collect points for the Ski Classics Champion and Youth competitions in their respective gender.
