Green Light For Sundby This Weekend
In the morning, Martin Johnsrud Sundby got the green light he wanted and will start the weekend’s two races in Visma Ski Classics with just one vaccine dose. Since Tuesday, it was uncertain whether Sundby should be allowed to start due to new and stricter rules in South Tyrol, the region where the race takes place.
“It was good news. It has been some stressful days,” Sundby told SVT at the stadium in Toblach on Friday morning.
Sundby took the first vaccine dose immediately after the Visma Ski Classics Prologue in Orsa, and he must therefore wait a few weeks before the second dose.
“Now, I hope to be able to take the second dose as soon as possible and avoid such problems, which due to medical reasons, I have not taken the vaccine before.”
“I think about how the body feels about the vaccine, but as society works now, you have no choice,” Sundby says.
The Visma Ski Classics Pustertaler Ski Marathon takes place on Saturday and Prato Piazza Mountain Challenge on Sunday.
